Any and all birthday parties must be booked at least 14 days in advance. Unscheduled groups/parties are not allowed. We reserve the right to turn away any unscheduled groups/parties.
Valley Rock Gym is available for party rentals Saturdays from 11am-1pm or 2pm-4pm and Sundays from 2pm-4pm.
Our rental room available for birthday parties, the Pirate’s Lagoon, is located upstairs. It is a large ocean themed room with bouldering walls, a large wooden pirate ship, slide, and four auto belays. There are tables where families can hang out, eat food and celebrate together!
The base rate for renting the Pirate Lagoon (2 instructors for 2 hours) is $250:
This rental package includes instruction, shoes and harnesses for the reserved timeslot.
Food and drink are welcome as long as it is contained within the designated eating space and people wash their hands both before and after eating. Party renters are responsible for taking home any extra food, drinks and decorations brought into the facility.
You can book a party 14 days to 3 months in advance.
Party Rental fees must be paid in full at the time of booking. After booking, you will receive an email form with some additional questions. After booking, please also email the Party Coordinator at party@valleyrockgym.com. Your reservation is not complete until you have emailed the Party Coordinator.
The organizer of the party must send a complete headcount to our Party Coordinator at party@valleyrockgym.com at least 10 days before the party. This ensures that we are able to staff the party appropriately.
If you plan on having more than 8 climbers, those additional climbers must get paid for 10 days before the party ($15 per additional climber). If an additional instructor is required, a $30 instructor fee must also be paid for 10 days before the party.
Failure to notify Valley Rock Gym of additional climbers within the appropriate time frame (10 days prior) will result in additional fees of $20/climber.
There will be no refunds for additional climbers and instructor fees.
Once you reach out to our Party Coordinator, you will receive the link to a roster for your party. The parent/guardian of each attendee will be responsible for adding their child to the roster 5 days before the party. Any participants who are not on the roster AND are not accounted for in the original headcount sent to the party coordinator result in additional fees of $20/climber.
All children attending the party who are under the age of 18 need a liability waiver signed by a parent. All participants, whether or not they are climbing, will need a waiver on file in order to attend the party. This includes parents, grandparents etc. (Please visit the waiver tab for instructions on how to fill out a waiver)

For kids ages 4-7 we have a ratio of 4:1 child to instructor
For kids ages 8 and above, we have a ratio of 6:1 child to instructor
Party participants/climbers must be at least 4 years old.
We have a minimum age of 4 years old for Birthday Party Participants. Children, toddlers and babies who may be siblings of party participants and who are under 4 years of age must be directly supervised and within reach of their parent/guardian at all times. Parties can be quite high energy and dynamic and it is our intention to ensure the safety of all participants. Instructors are not responsible for supervising kids who are not Birthday Party Participants.

Participating families will have to register their child in the Birthday Party Roster which can be found on the Approach Portal under ‘Birthday Party Rosters’. The Party Coordinator will send a link for the Birthday Party Roster to the Party Organizer.
Having a party roster and waivers signed ahead of time will also allow for a smooth check in process for you, your guests, and our staff. All children attending the party who are under the age of 18 need a liability waiver signed by a parent. Kids should wear active, comfortable clothes and tennis shoes. Pants that your child can move freely in can reduce minor abrasions associated with contact with our climbing walls, but are optional. Layering athletic pants over shorts can provide good options for kiddos that like shorts when they heat up! Climbing rental shoes are provided for those who are climbing party participants.
Yes! There are plenty of tables, chairs, and space for decorations. Food and drink are welcome as long as it is contained within the designated eating space and people wash their hands both before and after eating.
If you have food that needs to remain in the freezer or fridge prior to consumption, we can store it in our staff fridge.
Parents are welcome to hang out during the party as long as they have a waiver on file. We staff the party so parents are not required to supervise the climbers during their reservation, although they are encouraged to watch and cheer on their kids as they climb. Parents are also welcome to enjoy nearby Ants on a Log or Beer Place during their reservation (please see online for their hours as they may not align with your party)
No experience necessary! Our instructors will teach all necessary basic climbing skills and safety.
Our upstairs room is a large ocean and ship themed room with bouldering and auto belay walls. It offers a variety of climbing for all levels and ages, a seating area for food and hanging out, and space for climbing games. It also includes four autobelays and a large pirate ship structure with a slide.
Access to Valley Rock Gym for a party is not the equivalent of a day pass and only allows access to the area reserved for the party for the party time slot. This does not include access to fitness, yoga or climbing outside of a rented party facility.
Everyone who wants to use the auto-belay outside of birthday parties or youth programs where VRG staff are present must have taken a separate certification class through the VRG. Birthday parties and youth programs do not count as certification to use the auto-belays. Please see our class schedule on Approach to book an auto-belay class.
