At Valley Rock Gym, we are passionate about sharing the lifelong benefits of climbing with kids of all ages. Climbing is more than just a sport—it fosters growth, resilience, and a strong sense of community. Here are six key benefits that make climbing a valuable lifelong pursuit:
Our Little Monkeys Program operates with a 3:1 ratio. All other programs have a 4:1 participant to instructor ratio. We are committed to keeping class sizes smaller so climbers get more climbing time and more specialized instruction. VRG instructors receive quarterly training keeping them up to date on both hard and soft skills in the climbing world.
Electronics (iPods, Cell Phone, iPads, hand held games, etc) should be left at home. Climbing can provide an opportunity for kids and youth to take a break from electronic distractions, please help our instructors find success by keeping these items at home.
Drop off:
Pick up:
Parents can authorize unchaperoned drop offs and/or pick ups. Please send an email to sahalie@valleyrockgym.com to help document this arrangement.
Please carefully consider your schedule when signing up for a VRG seasonal program. Our 8 week curriculum is well organized and each class builds on the previous class. Your climber will learn and enjoy the experience more if they attend each week.
Due to the volume of participants and programs, we do not offer refunds or make up days for any missed classes. We do however provide the opportunity for you to come into the gym with your climber on your own time if they miss a class. You must email sahalie@valleyrockgym.com to coordinate this.
We understand that injuries and medical emergencies are unpredictable and in the event that your child must miss a practice(s) due to an injury or emergency we will evaluate how to proceed on a case by case basis. If your child has an injury or medical emergency and is unable to participate please contact the Youth Program Manager.
The VRG Codes of Conduct is meant to outline expectations of participant behavior to help foster a safe, respectful and inclusive learning environment for all members. Please review these Codes of Conduct with your child prior to the program.
#1: I will live up to the core values of respect and fairness. I will respect myself, my fellow program members, my instructors, and all others in the climbing community. I will treat other members of my program as I would like to be treated, and help them attain their goals through my support and encouragement.
#2: I will represent my program positively through my behavior, language and attitude. I understand that words are powerful and should be used to build myself and others up.
#3: I will strive for my personal best, while never forgetting that the goal is to have fun!
#4: My communication with my instructors and parents will be open and honest.
