CONTEST OVERVEIW

The Valley Rock Gym (VRG) is a climbing gym and community space with a focus on climbing, community, education and wellness. Our goal is to create a space where people of all ages, identities and abilities can come to socialize, learn, move and grow - as climbers and as individuals. 

Every year we hold a design competition that focuses on community and climbing inspired designs by way of a public contest. The top winner’s design will be placed on various merchandise including T-shirts but maybe also sweatshirts, stickers and/or hats.

ELIGIBILTY/ENTRY 

There is no entry fee to submit a design. If you are under the age of 14, you may create a design but it must be submitted on your behalf by a parent or guardian.

SUBMISSION DETAILS and DATES

Designs can be submitted in any of the following file formats: 

• Vector AI, EPS, or SVG
• PSD
• Layered artwork is ideal, but we can also accept .PNG files 

Colors: Max 3 colors (not including shirt color)

Sizing: Max width: 9 inches. Max Height: 12 inches

The design contest will be open from Friday February 2nd - Friday March 1st.  No late design submissions will be accepted.  Public voting on the designs will occur March 2nd - March 7th  with the winning design announced Friday March 8th.

SELECTION PROCESS:

Submissions will be reviewed by the VRG team to ensure that contest guidelines have been met. All designs will then be presented to the public to vote for the winner! 

The top winner will have their design printed on t-shirts and possibly other merchandise. The top winner will receive a $300 gift card to Valley Rock Gym OR 5 months of a recurring monthly membership (winners choice) as well as a t-shirt and any other merchandise with their winning design. 

Other designs may be selected for stickers. In this case, a member of the VRG team will reach out to the artist for permission. If accepted the artist will receive a $50 dollar gift card to the gym as well as a pack of 10 of their stickers to give to family and friends! 

DESIGN CONSIDERATIONS:

The shirts will be screen printed. In the simplest terms, this means each color (includes shades and overlays) will be on it’s own screen so your design should include no more than three colors. 

DO

• Be creative with your ideas
• Include ‘VRG’ or ‘Valley Rock Gym’ in your design 
• Do include a t-shirt color idea to your submission, we will do our best to source the same color
• Use at most three colors in your design
• Think about what would resonate with our community
• Please only submit work originally created by you
• Max width: 9 inches. Max Height: 12 inches
• Submit work in any of these file formats
  • Vector AI, EPS or SVG

DON’T

• Deliver a file that is too small, has low image quality, or low resolution
• Design something with more than three colors
• Include language or images that are or could be interpreted as discriminatory or stigmatizing
• Use other people’s work, art, designs etc.

DESIGN RIGHTS & LICENSE
By entering in the contest and submitting an entry, entrants grant to Valley Rock Gym, LLC a royalty-free, perpetual, license to publicly display their entry on its website and social media pages for advertising and/or publicity purposes.

After conclusion of the contest and creation of the t-shirts, sweatshirts & other merch with the winning design, the winning design and other submissions may be used on additional merchandise or applications. Artists will be contacted for consent and receive compensation if their design is used on future merchandise.

RELEASE AND LIMITATIONS OF LIABILITY

By participating in this contest, entrant agrees that Valley Rock Gym, LLC., and their respective affiliates, parents, subsidiaries and agents, and their respective employees, officers, directors, owners, representatives and agents, advertising or promotion agencies, and legal counsel will have no liability whatsoever for, and shall be held harmless by entrant against any liability for any injuries, losses or damages, claims and actions of any kind to persons, including death, or property resulting in whole or in part, directly or indirectly, from acceptance, possession, misuse or use of the prize, entry, or participation in this contest or in any contest-related activity, or any claims based on publicity rights, defamation, or invasion of privacy or merchandise delivery.  Valley Rock Gym, LLC., is not responsible if any prize cannot be awarded due to delays or interruptions due to acts of war, natural disaster, weather, pandemic, or terrorism.
